Category: Athletic team (year-round and summer swim leagues).

Description: Web design and front-end programming for redesign of Tucson Jewish Community Center's championship swim team's web presence.

Work done: Visual look-and-feel work for the site redesign included graphic editing, colors, typography, and layout (not including the Stingrays logo). I coded all (X)HTML and CSS for the site, including news (blog) and events templates for the site’s new CMS¹ (public site) as well as for the administrative interface for editing the site (admin site). Other work included information architecture, content development, and light PHP scripting.

Description: New web site for SIL linguist and translator. This site is a professional showcase of Dr. Willett's work and aims to make available his published works as PDF file downloads as well as give a brief bibliography and Curriculum Vitae. The intent of the visual design is to put the emphasis on the content and make the site easy to navigate and use. A challenge for the content delivery involved making every page available in both English and Spanish (you will note that each page has a link to switch from one language to the other).

Work done: Graphic design, coding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, content development, and basic scripting (VBasic).

DF Studio by DigitalFusion

Category: Web-based image and job management software for professional digital photographers.

Description: DF Studio is DigitalFusion's flagship software application designed for professional photographers as an editing and job management application.

I worked on DF Studio version 3 as part of a small web development team. My role in the project was a major overhaul of the UI (user interface). This visual upgrade involved realigning the web application to use modern web standards: valid HTML markup and CSS for layout and design. I also helped implement improved interactive tasks and navigation using JavaScript and improved the readability and usefulness of the application by providing better typography, icons, layouts, and color choices. The goal of the CSS-based design is to make the application's visual interface flexible, usable, and easier to maintain and customize.

Work done: For the new DF Studio I performed front-end coding in XHTML/CSS, JavaScript and interactive design, template programming in JSP within the Java Struts framework, and graphic web design using Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.

WINGS Birding Tours Worldwide

Description: Redesign and realign for one of the world's top birding tour companies. This project had many facets, including a visual face lift, overhaul of content production workflow, and migration of thousands of files from static HTML files to a full-service CMS. Design considerations: bring out WINGS' rich photographic resources and create an easy-to-navigate yet professionally clean look and feel.

Work done: Graphic design; coding with CSS, XHTML, PHP, and JavaScript. CMS built on top of CakePHP in partnership with Sam DeVore of Teachesme.com.

Description: Redesign and realign for Tucson's premier running store. Project emphasis was on improving visual appeal to make the site more professional while also completely redoing the underlying code to upgrade the site to current web standards. The site also moved from static HTML files to a full-service CMS for updating text and images.

Work done: Graphic design (except black box logo); coding with CSS, XHTML, PHP, and JavaScript.

Description: simpledream was hired to create a web site for Ohio-based artist Howard Markowitz. This project was very interesting! The layout and background were to be very minimal in order for the images and artwork to shine.

Work done: Content development, graphic design, web design and development (CSS, XHTML). Some of the design, such as the logo and background colors were pre-determined, but simpledream expanded on this and added a lot to the visual result.
